MoDOT TRAFFIC ALERT: Signal Work at Route 65/Route 86 & Traffic Shift on Route 86

South of Hollister Thursday, July 13

Where/When:

  • Signal work at the U.S. Route 65 and Missouri Route 86 intersection south of Hollister
    • 5 a.m. until 8 a.m. Thursday, July 13
  • Missouri Route 86 traffic shifted onto the new bypass between Jones Road and the Thunder Ridge entrances
    • Thursday, July 13 until the completion of the project

What: Crews will relocate the Route 65/Route 86 signal cabinet. The signal will be turned off and dark for up to 3 hours. Taney County Sherriff’s Department will direct traffic through the intersection while the signal is dark.

Crews will open the new Route 86 bypass north of the existing Route 86 road. The bypass will allow crews to build new lanes, a roundabout and bridge on Route 86 near Thunder Ridge without disrupting traffic.

The new bypass and signal work is a permit job to widen Route 86.

Traffic Impacts:

  • Route 65/Route 86 signal work:
    • Signals will be turned off and dark at Route 65 and Route 86 intersection for up to 3 hours
    • Taney County Sherriff’s Department will direct traffic through the intersection
    • Traffic slowed and possibly stopped at intersection
    • Approach the intersection with caution while the signal is dark
  • Route 86 traffic shift
    • Both east and westbound lanes of Route 86 traffic shifted onto the new north bypass road between Jones Road and the Thunder Ridge entrances
    • Existing Route 86 lanes will be closed at this location
  • Drivers may expect delays and encounter flaggers directing traffic through the work zone where crews are working
  • Crews and equipment close to traffic in areas
  • Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts
