It’s time to update your based aircraft at basedaircraft.com!
FAA Order 5010.4 - Airport Safety Data Program, requires the FAA and MoDOT Aviation Section to obtain based aircraft data “from the most reliable source possible” (i.e., from the records of the airport manager or sponsor, etc.). Having accurate based aircraft information will assist the FAA and our office in planning and forecasting the growth in the GA community. Each airport development project must be justified by current use. The FAA uses this information in the Biannual Report to Congress.
During mid-December, the based aircraft inventory counts will be saved and provided for use in the FAA’s 2025 biennial NPIAS publication. It is important that airport managers ensure their based aircraft inventory is updated before this time. Any changes made after this date will not be used in determining the future airport role in the NPIAS and will not be shown in the publication.
The based aircraft website can be accessed at basedaircraft.com. Each airport has a unique Username and password. If you have forgotten your password, you may reset it from the “forgot password” prompt on the main screen.
Please make sure to add any new tenants and remove any that are no longer based at your airport. If you have duplicate aircraft on your list that are not validated due to being reported at another facility, please contact that airport and ask them to help you determine where the aircraft is based the majority of the year (greater than six months). The aircraft can only be counted at one facility. Most airports are agreeable to deleting the aircraft if it does not belong at their airport. If you have deregistered aircraft being stored at your airport, check with the owners to determine the current status of the aircraft. Only airworthy aircraft, which are currently registered with the FAA, can be counted in your inventory.
Before you exit the screen, make sure that you have clicked on the “confirm aircraft data” button, and all confirmation screen buttons. The new format has changed this process slightly. The changes you make will not be uploaded to your airport 5010 Master Record and the FAA will not receive your updated information unless you click all prompts before exiting! Even if you have no changes, you still need to confirm your counts.
Finally, we are always here to assist if you need help with the program. aviation@modot.mo.gov GCR & Associates will also provide support if you click on the help link on the Based Aircraft website.
