Christian, Greene & Lawrence Counties– Drivers can expect lane closures on U.S. Route 60 and road closures at various railroad crossing locations when contractor crews resurface U.S. Route 60 and install railroad crossing improvements along the Route 60 corridor between Republic and Marionville beginning the week of February 12, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
This project includes resurfacing Christian & Greene County Route P between Clever and Republic and will begin April 2024.
Crews will begin installing traffic control and signage the week of January 29. Work will be done during daytime hours on Monday – Friday, with Saturdays as weather make up days.

- Resurfacing Route 60 and install sidewalks and meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements at various locations of Route 60 between County Road 194 west of Republic to Western Avenue in Marionville

Traffic Impacts:
- Single lane closures on Route 60 as crews resurface the road, install right turn lanes and entrances
- Route 60 OPEN
- Road CLOSURES as crews install new roads and railroad crossing pavement improvements
- Three railroad crossings permanently CLOSED: Vermule Road and Lambeth Road between Billings and Marionville and O’Dell Street in Marionville
- Lane closures on Route P during resurfacing beginning in April 2024
- Drivers on Route P will encounter flaggers and pilot cars directing them through the work zone. Drivers should wait for the pilot vehicle before proceeding through the work zones or before entering the work zones from a side road.
- Crews and equipment close to traffic in areas
- During higher traffic volume times, expect occasional delays
- No signed detours. Drivers may need to seek alternate routes to get to their destinations
Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.
APAC-Central of Springfield is doing the work for a low bid amount of $8.6 million.
Funding for the project is a cost-share between MoDOT, BNSF Railroad and the Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements Program (CRISI) federal grant through the USDOT Federal Rail Administration.
The project is to be completed by July 2024.
