Christian & Lawrence Counties – A project to upgrade sidewalks to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, along various routes in Christian and Lawrence Counties, to begin the week of February 19, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
At times, driveways and business entrances may be gravel as crews remove sections of sidewalks that run across to install new pavement. Contractor crews, working with the businesses, are ensuring access to all businesses remain open during the work.
Drivers are urged to use caution as they travel over gravel at times at driveways and business entrances to reach their destinations.
Here’s a look at the project:
- Contractor crews upgrading sidewalks to conform to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, including replacing sidewalk, removing sidewalks, installing crosswalks, curb, gutter and curb ramps and updating pedestrian signals, pavement marking and updating signs
- Work will be done in the following locations:
- Christian County
- Missouri Route 14 between west of Cherokee Trail and Clever High School in Clever
- Route K between Roue 14 and Brown Street in Clever
- U.S. Route 60 between west of Howcraft Avenue and east of Terrill Creek Road in Billings
- Missouri Route 14 between west of Village Drive to east of Route PP in Sparta
- Route PP between Route 14 and Cherry Street in Sparta
- Lawrence County
- Route ZZ between west of Missouri Avenue and east of Central Avenue in Marionville
- Christian County
- Driveway concrete replaced in half sections and temporary gravel driveways will be provided to allow access to the property
- Drivers may encounter flaggers and lane drops where crews are working
- Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.
Crews will begin in Clever and move to the west. Then, they will finish up the project in Sparta.
Radmacher Brothers Excavating Co., Inc., Pleasant Hill is doing the work for a low bid amount of $ 411,572.75.
The project is to be completed by December 1, 2024.
