Springfield – A project to install fiber optic cable along Loop 44 (Chestnut expressway) between U.S. Route 160 (West Bypass) and Missouri Route 13 (Kansas Expressway) in Springfield, to begin Friday, March 1, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
Contractor crews to install fiber optic cable and complete some signal work. Work will be done during day time hours, however, drivers may encounter single lane closures during nighttime hours of 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Here’s a look at the project:
- Chestnut Expressway (Loop 44) will remain Open
- Possible single lane closures on Chestnut Expressway during nighttime hours
- Drivers may encounter flaggers directing traffic through the work zone where crews are working
- Drivers urged to find alternate routes. No signed detours are planned.
- Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts
Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.
Midwest Traffic Signal Services, Nixa is doing the work for a low bid amount of $ 388,889.95.
The project is to be completed by November 1, 2024.
