Where: Sunset Street and Kansas Expressway (Missouri Route 13) in Springfield
When: Beginning 7 a.m. Monday March 11 until early June
What: Contractor crews begin work at the Sunset Street and Kansas Expressway intersection as part of the Kansas Expressway Pedestrian Improvements Project in Greene County. Work includes installing a southbound Kansas Expressway right turn lane to westbound Sunset Street, a westbound Sunset Street dual left turn lane to southbound Kanas Expressway, widen the intersection and install new signals and sidewalks to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.
Traffic Impacts:
- Work during daytime hours will be off the road way
- Traffic to expect lane closures during nighttime hours of 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Sunset Street and Kansas Expressway (Missouri Route 13) Open
- Drivers urged to find alternate routes
- No signed detours are planned
- Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts
Weather and/or scheduling conflicts could alter the work schedule.
Project Information:
- D & E Plumbing & Heating, Inc., Nixa is doing the work for a low bid amount of $13.3 million and is a cost-share with the City of Springfield.
