JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Transportation is seeking community input on two upcoming bridge deck replacement projects in Moniteau County: Missouri Route 179 bridge over Moniteau Creek and Route U bridge over Howard Creek. An in-person public meeting in Jamestown will kick off a two-week comment period running May 14 – 28, 2024.
The supporting structures of both bridges are in good condition, but their decks have deteriorated and must be replaced. Improvements planned for both bridges include a new driving surface, updated barriers, and new guardrail at each corner.
The public is invited to the open-house-style meeting on Tuesday, May 14, at the Jamestown School Gymnasium, 222 School Street (enter the gym through the main school doors). Attendees may come and go as they please at any time from 4:30 to 6 p.m., as there will be no formal presentation. Members of the project team will be available to answer questions and provide information. Exhibits show the work currently being planned and the proposed detour. The meeting exhibits will also be made available online.
In addition to the public meeting, there will be a two-week open comment period running May 14-28. Input can be submitted online through a form on the project webpage, emailed to CDCR@modot.mo.gov, or mailed to Route 179 and Route U bridge deck replacement project in Moniteau County, c/o MoDOT, 1511 Missouri Boulevard, Jefferson City, MO, 65102. All comments must be received or postmarked by May 28, 2024.
