JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Due to weather delays, a project to paint three bridges on U.S. Route 54 in the Lake of the Ozarks area will now extend through early June. Construction crews are in the process of painting the substructures and washing the Grand Glaize Arm of the Lake of the Ozarks bridges and the Niangua Arm of the Lake of the Ozarks bridge.
The new schedule of work and expected traffic impacts are:
- Niangua Arm of the Lake of the Ozarks bridge
- Ongoing. Weather-permitting, crews will complete work next week.
- The shoulder will be closed and driving lanes will be narrowed during daytime hours (6 a.m. to 7 p.m.).
- Grand Glaize Arm of the Lake of the Ozarks, eastbound and westbound bridges
- Crews will return to the Grand Glaize bridges after completing the Niangua bridge and expect work to be completed by June 7.
- Once they return, the westbound auxiliary lane (ramp from Osage Beach Parkway) will be closed during daytime hours (6 a.m. to 7 p.m.). Message boards will alert motorists to use an alternate route.
- Both through lanes on U.S. Route 54 will be open. Eastbound traffic will not be affected.
All work is weather-permitting and subject to change.
The Missouri Department of Transportation contracted with International Rigging Group, LLC to apply a protective coating to the substructure and wash the bridges. All three bridges were rehabilitated in 2023 and the current project is intended to extend their expected life.
