Webster County – Contractor crews will CLOSE Webster County Route W between Glade Road and Beach Road north of Marshfield for up to 59 days to replace a box bridge beginning the week of June 3, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
Contractor crews will remove and replace the existing box bridge with a new structure as well as adding new object markers at the end of the bridge. The new bridge will be six (6) feet wider, 21 feet longer and two (2) feet higher than the original one. The contractor also will replace a small culvert just to the west of this work.
This bridge was built in 1946 and is in a deteriorating condition. Approximately 2,100 vehicles cross the bridge per day.
Traffic Impacts:
- Route W will be CLOSED between Glade Road and Beach Road for up to 59 days
- Drivers will have access to driveways and entrances on either end of the work zone, but will not be allowed to drive through the work zone
- Drivers will be directed along a signed detour using Lawrence County Route EE, Missouri Route 38 and Route W
- Dallas Country Route M bridge over Niangua River will be OPEN before Route W CLOSED
- Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zone
- Drivers should consider alternate routes during the project
- Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts
Weather and/or construction delays could alter the work schedule.
This work is part of a three-year project to improve 25 bridges within 15 miles of I-44 across the Southwest District. Of the 25 bridges in the project, known as the I-44 Corridor Bridge Bundle, seven (7) are mainline I-44 bridges, five (5) are I-44 overpass bridges and the remaining bridges are on adjacent routes over various features. Sixteen (16) bridges will be replaced and nine (9) bridges will receive major rehabilitation work. So far, 19 bridges have been completed in this project.
