Upcoming Route M, CRD 459 Intersection Project in Butler County

Notice of Opportunity for Public Meeting

SIKESTON—The Missouri Department of Transportation plans to improve the intersection of Route M and County Road 459 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. The project will be completed in an effort to improve sight distance at the intersection.

Tentatively, the project will be let in November 2025.

The intersection improvements will begin following the Route M resurfacing project. Work will include flattening the crest of the hill in an effort to improve sight distance along Route M and its intersection with County Road 459.

Construction could begin as early as spring 2026. During construction, the roadway will be closed in the vicinity of the intersection for approximately two months.

Maps, plans, and other information prepared by MoDOT will be available for public inspection and copying at MoDOT’s Sikeston District office, 2675 N. Main St. in Sikeston, Missouri.

Any person affected by this project may request that a public meeting be held in regard to the proposed improvements. Requests for a public meeting shall be in writing and must be submitted to District Engineer Mark Croarkin at 2675 North Main St., Sikeston, MO 63801, by Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025.
