Public outreach spurs project contract change

Maries County Route AA, Missouri Route 42 and County Road 213

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo The Missouri Department of Transportation recently notified the public about two upcoming bridge projects in Maries County. The projects to rehabilitate two bridges on Missouri Route 42 and two bridges on Maries County Route AA were scheduled to be completed in 2025. With a tight construction timeline, it was possible that both routes would close at the same time.

After feedback from the local community about these four bridges and a bridge project on County Road 213, MoDOT has revised the plans so all five bridges are now in the same package that will go out for contractor bids in May 2025 and none of the bridges will be permitted to close at the same time. During construction, which could begin as early as July 2025 and will extend into 2026, two of the three routes will remain open.
