JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – A project to rehabilitate the eastbound Interstate 44 bridge over the Little Piney Creek and BNSF Railroad is now scheduled to begin later this summer. At their February meeting, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $847,000 contract to N.B. West Contracting Company for the project near Jerome.
This project is now expected to start in the summer of 2025, but the exact start date is not known at this time. Once construction begins, eastbound I-44 near mile marker 174 will be narrowed to one lane for approximately two months. All work, by contract, must be complete by Dec. 1, 2025.
The bridge was built in 1966, and while the supporting structures are in good condition, the shoulders need to be replaced and the driving surface (bridge deck) and substructure needs repairs in order to extend the life of the bridge.
All work is weather permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
