MoDOT: Northbound U.S. Route 65 to Westbound I-44 Flyover Bridge Rehabilitation Project

In Springfield Focus of Virtual Public Meeting September 8-22

Springfield, Greene County – Those interested in the Northbound U.S. Route 65 to Westbound I-44 Flyover Bridge Rehab Project in Springfield are invited to view the proposed improvements and project information via a virtual (online) public meeting from Tuesday, September 8, until Tuesday, September 22, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Comments on this project can be mailed in, emailed, or submitted online through the project website until Tuesday, September 22. For those unable to access the online meeting, contact MoDOT’s Southwest District Office at 417.895.7600, and accommodations will be made to share the information.

Project highlights:

  • Rehabilitate the Northbound U.S. Route 65 to Westbound I-44 Flyover Ramp in Springfield to help maximize the bridge's lifespan

Traffic Impacts:

  • Northbound U.S. Route 65 to westbound I-44 flyover ramp will remain open during most of construction
  • Driving traffic can expect traffic shifts with reduced lane/shoulder widths and shoulder closures
  • Short-term ramp Closures to install new expansion joints
    • Signed detour during short-term Closure: Valley Water Mill Road
  • Temporary shoulder closures and reduced lane widths on US-65, I-44, westbound I-44-to-southbound Route 65, and eastbound I-44-to-northbound Route 65 ramps

Construction is scheduled to begin in March 2027.

Estimated Total Cost: $3.5 million
