Frequently Asked Questions:
What is the need for this project?
The pavement in these areas has deteriorated and been patched over time to the point where resurfacing is needed to maintain a safe and smooth surface for drivers. Additional safety features include adding two (2) foot wide shoulders and rumble strips to reduce crashes, as well as extending 12 culverts between Lockwood and Missouri Route 39 to move them farther away from the edge of the highway.
Will the single-lane U.S. Route 160/North Fork Spring River bridge be widened to two (2) lanes?
Not with this project. The contractor will make some repairs and resurface the current bridge. However, there are plans for this bridge to be replaced and widened to two (2) lanes in 2027.
Will there be a signed detour for this project?
Yes and no. There will be a detour when the contractor is working on the U.S. Route 160/North Fork Spring River bridge. Drivers will be directed along a signed detour using routes VV, D and 160. There will be no signed detour for the remainder other work, however, drivers may encounter lane closures and traffic controlled by flaggers and/or pilot cars where crews are working. Drivers can expect delays and should find alternate routes to avoid the work zones.
Why were these locations chosen?
The pavement in these areas has deteriorated and been patched over time to the point where resurfacing is needed to maintain a safe and smooth surface for drivers.
